CONTACT METHOD: Plurk or email work!
THREAD-JACKING: Totally
FOURTH WALLING / CANON PUNCTURE: Okay to be informed of future events and be told of his fellow coworkers in Star Wars 'verse. Contact me for canon puncture if interested!
BACKTAGGING: Always
AVOIDED TOPICS: Good with most things
PREFERRED GENDER PRONOUN: She/her

IC CHARACTERISTICS:
CURRENT CANON POINT: From the ending of Star Wars: Rebels where Thrawn is pulled into space by Ezra Bridger
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
"[Thrawn] was human-shaped and had human features, but his skin was blue, his hair was blue-black, and his eyes were glowing red." -Thrawn, pg 100

"His voice was calm and respectful, with a quiet underpinning of confidence and intelligence." - Thrawn, pg 101

Tall for both a human and a Chiss, usually in some kind of immaculate military garb denoting his rank.

DEMEANOR: Calm, respectful to allies. Sarcastic, biting more rarely. Loves to change the subject when he senses no one is going to agree with him. Has a measured, unemotional voice that doesn't give way to a lot of emphasis, but has a significant amount of strength and conviction behind every word he says.
ABILITIES: Thrawn's chief talent is his mind. He perceives situations and people through art and culture, body language and words used. This is not a super ability but it can come off like one to the uninformed until Thrawn offers explanations behind his reasoning.

If given a piece of artwork or clothing made either by a species or a particular person, he can pull insight from it and gain a measure of understanding about that person or species' likely strategy. At one point he manages to do this with composed music, albeit this is rarer.

He is Chiss: a near-humanoid species with a little more reaction time and strength. Thrawn at this stage of his life is an excellent marksman with a gun and a semi-decent pilot. He's adept at hand-to-hand combat and works to hone his body to a warrior's physique. Thrawn's eyes can see into the infrared and will glow in the dark. He can usually sense when someone is lying to them by observing their tells or subtle changes in posture or changes in body temperature.
MEDICAL INFORMATION: Thrawn isn't human but he IS humanoid, and nothing in canon has illustrated his body (apart from a few enhanced skill markers) is anything very different in behavior from a human's.
CABIN INFORMATION: Thrawn's door has his Star Destroyer's undercarriage photo on it: a picture of a two-headed Chimaera with several smaller heads twisting around each other.

His cabin is his admiralty quarters aboard the ISD Chimaera: probably packed with data chips full of art, a large suite with a breakfast nook that he uses for study purposes instead, and austere living quarters with an observational window backing one side.
OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS: Questioning his logic or reasons after he's explained himself. Selfishness or cowardice in general but especially on behalf of one's own people. Putting personal gain ahead of a larger shared victory.

IC PERMISSIONS:
MENTAL: Oh yes please. Thrawn's been subject to that sort of scrutiny before - Force-users have noted that there's an 'orderly flow to his thoughts and emotions, a mix of calculation and caution. Thrawn's emotions are muted compared to a human's, but they're there: they're just traditionally difficult to pick up on until knowing him better.
MIMICRY: Can another character imitate your character in physical appearance and/or voice?
VIOLENCE: Yes! Be prepared, he tends to hyperfocus on those about to go into a battle stance with him and will engage appropriately.
MAGIC: Please do! He will hate it.
DEBATE: Of course! Thrawn is notorious for avoiding debates, however: he has plenty of tactical maneuvers to get out of one. Primarily he likes to either change the subject once it's clear he's not going to agree with someone, or go silent in thought. He doesn't really like debating past the point of relevance, finding it slow: either someone will understand what he's talking about or they won't, and oftentimes just the sight or tone of him will incite irritation in his opponents. Therefore he considers debate without quick information delivery a waste of time.
OTHER / NOTES:

DID YOUR CHARACTER MAKE ART/JEWELRY/CLOTHING ON THE SHIP?

Thrawn wants to know about it and make a copy (or get an original) so he can deduce who you are and what your motivations are.

A list of some things he has learned from people's artwork in the past and would likely focus on:
Combat styles and tactics, both individual and as a species
Culture
History (both expansive and individual: he once was able to tell that an artist suffered a great personal loss in between two pieces and possibly never recovered)
Philosophy
Gender
Religious ideals in sacred pieces
How someone sees themselves in the world
Other pieces the individual created

Character Name: Zerxus Ilerez
Artwork: Zerxus does a lot of whittling. Animals (including griffons, dragons and owlbears), weapons (shields and swords, mostly, but sometimes a scythe or a wand), various symbols/emblems (both from his world and others), plants, stars.
What Thrawn can summarize from it:

- He's a level 20 paladin so Thrawn could get any of this, I'd say? (Specifically, his fighting style is Protection, and he usually fights in heavy plate but is currently avoiding it. He favours a sword and shield, but he's spent the last decade fighting with a mace instead so he need to re-acclimate to that.) As far as species goes, he was born and raised human which doesn't really have a broad style, but is now a devil and they sure do!

- Profound loss and overwhelming guilt permeate everything, but they're definitely a stronger influence on some pieces than others. This is a man who committed his life to protecting people, only for this instincts to contribute to large-scale devastation that cost him almost everyone he loved.

- He grew up during the Age of Arcanum, and spent the last half of his life in one of the most extravagant and powerful flying cities before bringing about the Calamity that incinerated his entire continent and decimated the population. Thrawn might be able to tell that some of the flora and fauna he carves has gone extinct. He currently lives in the Nine Hells, which is its own kettle of lawful evil fish.

- Zerxus took the Oath of Redemption, and is devoted to that philosophy so utterly that it is frankly A Problem. Selfless compassion is blended here with straight up hubris and stubbornness.

- Sacred symbols are interesting! His divine power comes from his oath, but he's bound eternally to the Lord of the Hells, so it could be a very confusing/intriguing impression. The two other deities he'd reference are Avandra the Changebringer (his son's goddess) and Sarenrae the Everlight (the goddess of redemption); he worships neither but respects both.

Character Name: Hunter
Artwork: Flapjack!
What Thrawn can summarize from it: SO!

Hunter didn't actually make Flapjack - he's at least 300 years old with visible wear and tear - so this is going to be a delightful false positive.

- Flapjack's maker was a human male. (Feel free to interpret this as either Hunter is a Human By Own Universe Standards, or not Flapjack's original owner!)
- He craved freedom and the ability to forge his own path, and the red cardinal specifically symbolises freedom and new beginnings.
- He came from a world without magic to live in a world with, and was extremely informed by his past as someone who hurt people because it was what he was raised to do.
- He wasn't necessarily callous or actively cruel, but he lived a life of desperate yearning for freedom, and when the chance came to take it he abandoned his life and family quite readily.
- The scar on Flapjack came from a man the original creator trusted deeply, and disregarded and hurt with that blithe selfishness.

Hunter himself makes clothes!
- These speak to a lot of passion, intelligence and the chance to truly express himself for the first time in his life.
- He's not strictly religious, but he reads way too deeply into the meaning of everything. They also speak to adopting into a culture that's not his own and examining it incredibly, overly intensely for rules, meaning and logic.
- A tendency in situations to, even when he has the option to express himself without consequences or restrictions, tend towards pragmatism, orderliness and self-imposed challenges or definitions.

Character Name: Will Graham
Artwork: Oil paint and oil pastel on canvas, mostly. They are usually black with vibrant or jewel toned colors, and he rarely uses white or leaves a white background. He slathers the paint on in layers, until it's tall enough to form visible shadows on the picture. He's usually fairly low detail, with the idea that it's sometimes hard to tell what the objects are. The subjects are usually surreal in some form of nature- a bust portrait with the face a scramble of colors, or a bunch of branching patterns that may be a winter tree in the night sky (or might be antlers with eyes behind it). He might dabble in other arts, but these are his therapy go-to's.

Sidenote: Will is a bit of a weird one. He basically is the opposite side of the coin to Thrawn- he is constantly awash in emotion, being hypersensitive to people's body language and various tics. His mind integrates all of this and outputs it as emotions he's feeling. (a lot of people consider this to be almost a super power, too)

He's had several decades to try and figure out how to separate his own emotions from the 'outside' ones, but it's still difficult- especially with being unable to isolate on the Barge (one of his go-to coping mechanisms). He has, however, managed to get a lot of the 'outside' emotions to manifest as metaphorical visualizations...and while he's been on board someone suggested to him that he might try actually making art out of these. So while he's painting, it's 'therapy' to him- pushing out all the feelings and concerns everyone else has that's sort of gotten stuck onto his own mind. A lot of times these metaphorical visualizations are exactly related to the person he's pulling them from, to the point that they recognize it (e.g. he painted eyes around Jedao).

What this means is that some of what he paints might make Thrawn think he's coming from a different culture or is just a complete and utter mess (which...not entirely wrong). But I'll put some of the more prevalent notes below. Any of the items in the visualization section of the comments on this post are fair game (and feel free to fill it out yourself, if you'd like!). Let me know if you have any thoughts or want to do something else from it!

What Thrawn can summarize from it: (the parts that are Will)
-He views the world darkly- as in, he is consistently a strong pessimist even when the situation is good. There are a lot of awful things that happen while the rest of society is ignorant of it, and Will lives in that darkness.
-He is most comfortable in nature and loves it.
-He hates and/or doesn't believe in any religion- anything he paints that has religious imagery usually has something awful involved.
-He fights like a feral dog and/or is a werewolf.
-However, he's very intelligent and loves discussing philosophical points.
-He doesn't consider himself a part of any community or of society in general.
-He grew up poor and worked extremely hard to get himself into education and then a respected position.
-He likes emphasizing the worst parts of himself in order to get people to back off from trying to evaluate him. And he also just enjoys being provocative.

Phew, this got long. Apologies for the novel!

Character Name: Avalon
Artwork: Their Warden item (leather bracelet with a black panel on top)
What Thrawn can summarize from it: Avalon got the bracelet when a Flood replicated something that belonged to their former Warden. Originally, it showed the name of the emotion that they were feeling, and it currently functions as their item. Thrawn could easily get some of their graduation journey from it. Avalon spent most of their existence thinking that they didn’t have any emotions, so a big part of their graduation was learning how they actually experienced emotions and how to recognize what they felt.

They tend to avoid getting into physical fights, but when they do, they prefer to use their shapeshifting abilities for some kind of weapon (claws, teeth, whatever). I also think that Thrawn sensing stuff about their gender might be fun. Since Avalon’s a shapeshifter, they’ve always seen themself as neither male nor female, or as just a consciousness existing in whatever body happens to be useful. Now that they’ve gotten more secure in their sense of self, that feeling of being neither is more along the lines of existing in the gray area and having a connection to either type of body rather than just “I have no idea which one I am because I’ve been both.”

Character Name: Jinx
Artwork: Various, small paintings will be appearing in places Jinx frequents (e.g. library, cabin, gym, deck). They'll have a bit of a "street art" look and vibe, with a focus on the colors pink and blue.
What Thrawn can summarize from it:

  • Female
  • Lots of anger
  • Lots of uncertainty towards herself
  • Deeply depressed
  • PTSD
  • Frankly, she sees herself as an unlovable monster
